Nitrofurantoin will only work if you have an infection. Some symptoms of a UTI are:

• A burning sensation when urinating
• Pain in the back
• Fatigue
• Chills
• Very little urine being produced
• Frequent urge to urinate
• Shakiness
• Cloudy, dark, or strong-smelling urine
• Fever
